HW

Hi guys,

Today's was introducing us to the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, the most important topic that we will cover this year. It connects the two major concepts of calculus, the derivative (slope) and the definite integral (area). 4.4 WKS A and B were meant to walk you through an understanding of this crucial but somewhat complex theorem. I think that it is so important, I want you to go back through these two worksheets this weekend and make an honest effort effort to really understand them. To help you out, I've posted solutions for them on the website, along with the original worksheets(in the Worksheets section). Also, watch the above video for a different person explaining the same idea (though he uses g(x) instead of F(x) as the antiderivative). This will be your only HW this weekend, and though its nothing that I can check to see if you've done, it will make things a lot easier for you if you gain a real understanding of it now, as the rest of the year is going to be based on this idea.

HW
Review and correct/complete the 4.4 WKS A and 4.4 WKS B
(I will take them up on Monday)

Thanks!

HW 62

Hi guys,

HW for is the 4.4b WKS tonight. You'll need to refer to the 4.4 WKS that we did in class. Also, finish that one if you didn't in class.

4.1-4.3 Review

Hi guys,

The solutions to the review are now posted on the website.

http://ehsfaculty.org/math/njoseph/Calculus.html

There are a few minor changes that I needed to make to the review:

#5 Change f(x) to f(x)=(2x^5-3x^3+12)/(x^3)

#4a Draw inscribed AND circumscribed rectangles.

#4k UPPER sum, not lower sum

Pg. 5, #4a and b, the graphs got put on the next page for some reason, but the integrals refer to those graphs.

I’ve incorporated these changes into the solutions, so just look at those if any of this is unclear.

Thanks and good luck!

Mr. Joseph
